2337  Lokori Micro Enterprise Development Scheme (LOMEDS)  2011– 2012    $92,255  

Nutrition: a Community Based Organization (CBO) that seeks to increase access to credit for Kenyans living in Turkana. The focus of this project is to help LOMEDS grow their microcredit enterprise and strengthen their institutional, management and operational capacity. ADF funds are being used to develop a business plan; increase the organization’s loan fund; construct a small office building; and purchase a motorcycle to conduct ongoing outreach and mobilization activities among their membership.

2342  Naoyatiira Irrigation Planning Grant 2011–2011    $53,892   Planning grant: Kaputir Resource Management Association (KARMA) is a CBO that works to reduce poverty through sustainable agriculture. The focus of this projects is to help KARMA assess the irrigation scheme at Naoyatiira and develop plans to improve the current infrastructure and practices at the site. The plan will also detail which crops are best suited to the area and suggest improvements to agricultural practices that are currently carried out. Additional activities will target building the capacity of the organization in governance and financial manage-ment.

 Napak Irrigation Planning Grant   2011– 2011    $69,411   Planning grant: Agency for Pastoralist Development (APAD) is a CBO that focuses on improving the lives of pastoralists.The focus of this project is to help APAD assess and develop plans to improve the irrigation in-frastructure at the Napak irrigation site .The plan will also detail which crops are best suited to the area and suggest improvements to agricultural practices that are currently carried out. Additional activities will target building the capacity of the organization in governance and financial management.  
 Napeikar Irrigation Planning Grant   2011– 2011    $42,143   Planning grant: Agency for Pastoralist Development (APAD) is a CBO that focuses on improving the lives of pastoralists. The focus of this project is to help APAD assess and develop plans to improve the irrigation infrastructure at the Napeikar irrigation site. The plan will also detail which crops are best suited to the area and sug-gest improvements to agricultural practices that are currently carried out. Additional activities will target building the capacity of the organization in governance and financial management.
